Riau Provincial Government is set to offer a number of investment projects in the coming Riau Investment Summit 2007 (RIS) which will be held in Pekanbaru on 7-8 November.
With the theme "Where Regional Investment Works", Governor Rusli Zainal stated that RIS 2007 would offer around 25 projects from a number of sectors such as infrastructure, energy, industrial estate, public utilities, and agrobusiness with a total value of around Rp 24 trillion.
"We are very excited and proud of Riau Investment Summit because this shows our initiative on utilizing the opportunity presented to us by our Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through its "Updates from the Regions" program," said Governor Zainal Rusli. "Our preparation for Riau Investment Summit has reached 80% and Insya Allah we are ready to welcome both domestic and foreign investors to Pekanbaru," he added.
In addition to that, the Governor also explained that RIS 2007 is a realization of Riau Provincial Government’s initiative in being proactive towards potential investors and as a starting point of providing one stop investment services. "With this one-stop system all investors shall be handled by our fully competent staff to ensure easier and faster process for all their investment requirements," said the Governor.
Foreign Minister Dr. N. Hassan Wirajuda is very pleased with the program and fully supports it. "This really shows great synergy between the program that we launched and the follow up by provincial governments. We expect this to be followed by other regions," said Foreign Minister Dr. Wirajuda. "Updates from the Regions" is a program that was launched in May by Ministry of Foreign Affairs, introduced by the Foreign Minister himself to ambassadors from neighbouring countries.
RIS 2007 will offer more than a few projects including infrastructure such as the building of toll roads and railway tracks, agrobusiness sector covering the development of crude palm oil factories and public utilities such as waterfront, industrial estates and tourism.
